Questions
How do I join the TestFlight?
Write to the address above and ask for an invitation. You'll get one from Apple's TestFlight app, which installs the test version of Wormy Worlds. It needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
In TestFlight you can also send feedback and screenshots straight from the app. The App Store version is coming soon.
What is a world?
When you reach your goal, a world is born: a small illustrated scene, one of thirty to collect, each with a little story of its own. It keeps the piece, the tempo, and how many YES and NO it took, and it lands on the calendar in the Worlds tab on the day you earned it.
What does the goal number mean?
The goal is how far YES has to pull ahead of NO. A goal of +5 means five more YES than NO: each YES counts one, and each NO takes one back. With Count NO turned off, the goal is simply five YES, however many NO it takes.
Where does my practice live?
On your phone, inside the app. There is no account and no server: your stories, every YES and NO, your worlds and your practice days stay on this iPhone.
To keep them safe, open Settings, then Backup, and tap Save backup. Choose where the file goes: Files, AirDrop, anywhere. To use it, tap Restore and pick the file. Wormy asks before it replaces anything.
Before you delete the app or reset a phone, save a backup file first. Deleting the app deletes its data. More in the privacy policy.
What is Calm?
Calm is the same app, holding still: fewer animations and a plain window. Turn it on in Settings. If Reduce Motion is on in your iPhone's Accessibility settings, Calm is on by itself.
It helps a player who would rather play with the worms than the piece, or anyone who likes it quieter.
What is the Tempo Ladder?
With the Tempo Ladder on, each goal you reach earns the next tempo. Reach your goal at 100 and you can climb to 104; the click goes up with you. Every tempo becomes one line of the story, so the worms decide when to go faster, not a feeling.
What if a day is hard?
Turn off Count NO in Goal before the first try. Then five YES is the goal, however many NO it takes. Every NO still shows, on the road, on the story and on the world.
Does Wormy listen to me play?
No. There is no microphone in it. You play, then you answer YES or NO; only you know. That's why it works with any instrument.
Can I answer with a pedal?
Yes. A page-turn pedal is a Bluetooth keyboard with very few keys. Pair it in your iPhone's Settings, under Bluetooth, and set it to send arrow keys if it has a choice. Then right is YES and left is NO, and your hands stay on the instrument.
In the app
Wormy explains itself too: in Settings, How Wormy works has the method in a few lines, with notes for teachers, and the introductions can be replayed at any time.
